Qualifications
Stella is currently a Senior Lecturer at the school of Information Technology in Monash South Africa. At present, she holds a PhD degree in Information Technology from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University which was awarded in 2014. Previously, she studied at Tshwane University of Technology where she graduated in 2008 with Master of Technology degree in Business information Systems. She also holds a BSc (Hons.) degree in Information Technology from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Kenya.
Teaching Experience
Previously before working in Monash University, Stella worked in Tshwane University of Technology as a part time lecturer in 2008 and as a lecturer in 2009. She mainly taught Java and Visual Basic units. She joined Monash University in the same capacity as a lecturer in February 2010. The units that she has taught since joining Monash South Africa include; E-business, Human Computer Interaction, Systems development, User Interfaces and Software Engineering. In 2010, Stella was awarded a certificate of best performing unit of the semester in the School of Information Technology in Monash South Africa by the Pro Vice Chancellor and President of Monash South Africa. She is a member of IEEE association.
Research interests
Her past research have contributed to m-health and e-health initiatives within the developing world an area that contributes to Information and Communications Technologies for Development (ICT4D).Stella has also been involved in research in the Human Computer Interaction domain. She has presented her research work in various workshops and international conferences including journals. In the past she has been involved in supervision of honours students and currently supervising masters’ students at the School of Information Technology. She is also involved in a collaborative research project with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) South Africa. In terms of research outreach and service, she has examined various post graduate theses in her research area from University of South Africa (UNISA).
Her current research interests in Information Technology are in the areas of Human Computer Interaction, ICT4D and Health Informatics from which she has published various articles. She has supervised various postgraduate students in their honours degrees and currently is supervising masters’ students within the school of Information Technology.
