The IIE Higher Certificate in Mobile Application and Web Development is structured in accordance with the HEQSF guidelines and will provide students with the knowledge, skills, and applied competencies identified by the mobile application and web development industry to be employed or become an entrepreneur in building mobile apps and websites.
The purpose of the Higher Certificate in Mobile Application and Web Development is twofold. Firstly, it will provide students with the basic introductory knowledge, cognitive and conceptual tools for higher education studies in the IT field, and secondly, students will develop practical skills and techniques in mobile application and web development.
The IIE Higher Certificate in Mobile Application and Web Development is aimed at students who are interested in mobile application development as well as web development. This certificate addresses both the need for mobile application development and web development on both the server- and the client-side.
The qualification has a focus on introductory skills and knowledge that will function as a pathway into qualifications such as IIE Bachelor of Computer and Information Science in Application Development and IIE Diploma in Information Technology in Software Development. This qualification is suited for the learning and development needs of National Senior Certificate learners who are seeking to pursue studies in mobile application development and may not have qualified to register for a Degree.
Successful completion of this qualification signifies that the learner has attained a basic level of higher education knowledge and competence in the field of mobile application and web development, and can apply such knowledge and competence in an occupation or role in the workplace. This qualification includes a simulated Work-Integrated Learning component.
