IIE MSA EXECUTIVE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

First Attempt Students

Students from an IIE SAICA accredited undergraduate degree:

A SAICA-accredited undergraduate degree successfully completed within a maximum time frame of 4 years and completed all 4 major 3rd year subjects – Auditing, Financial Accounting, Management Accounting and Finance and Taxation – in the year immediately preceding the year in which they are admitted into the PGDip (Accounting), OR
A successfully completed accountancy bridging programme and completed all 4 major subjects – Auditing, Financial Accounting, Management Accounting and Finance and Taxation – in the year immediately preceding the year in which they are admitted into the PGDip (Accounting).

Repeat Attempt Students

Students who have unsuccessfully attempted their PGDip (Accounting) or equivalent once, in the year preceding registration for PGDip (Accounting) at either The IIE or any other higher education provider, will be admitted into The IIE’s PGDip (Accounting) programme on condition that their  average for their first attempt of PGDip (Accounting) or equivalent was at least 40%. 

Students who have unsuccessfully attempted their PGDip (Accounting) or equivalent two times or more at either The IIE or any other higher education provider, will not be admitted into The IIE’s PGDip (Accounting) programme.

An appropriate HEQSF Level 7 Bachelor’s degree.
The qualification should at least include accounting and/ or auditing modules to the third year level.

The qualification must include public health, medical or nursing-related modules at the 3rd-year level, or the applicant must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a public health related field.

A SAQA Evaluation Certificate with NQF L7 equivalence in an appropriate field of public health, medical or nursing-related modules

The qualification must include water, engineering, or environmental science modules at the 3rd-year level, or the applicant must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the water sector.

An appropriate HEQSF Level 8 Bachelor Honours degree; OR 
A relevant HEQSF Postgraduate Diploma or appropriate equivalent; OR 
An appropriate Level 8 Bachelor’s Degree (480 credits) may also be recognised as meeting the minimum entry requirements to a cognate Master’s Degree programme        

Please note:
Minimum of three years’ relevant work experience

CV review and interview by Programme Manager to ensure alignment between candidate and programme

A SAQA NQF L8 Evaluation Certificate in an appropriate field

An appropriate HEQSF Level 8 Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree in business management and/ or strategic business management and/ or international business or equivalent discipline; OR 
A relevant HEQSF Postgraduate Diploma or appropriate equivalent; OR  
An appropriate Level 8 Bachelor’s Degree (480 credits) may also be recognised as meeting the minimum entry requirements to a cognate Master’s Degree programme.       

An overall qualification average of at least 60% is required, normally

An appropriate HEQSF Level 8 Honours degree; OR

A relevant Postgraduate Diploma or appropriate equivalent; OR  
An appropriate Level 8 Bachelor’s Degree (480 credits) may also be recognised as meeting the minimum entry requirements to a cognate Master’s Degree programme.

An overall qualification average of at least 65% is required, normally.

All applicants who are eligible for admission to the Master of Philosophy in Arts degree are required to register for the Research Proposal Development Programme (SRPW0001).  Successful completion of the Research Proposal Development Programme requires of applicants to complete and present a Research Proposal for approval at the Higher Degrees Committee. In order to register for the Research Proposal Development Programme, applicants develop and submit a relevant Statement of Intent for review and acceptance into the programme.

A relevant Postgraduate Diploma or appropriate equivalent; OR  
An appropriate Level 8 Bachelor’s Degree (480 credits) may also be recognised as meeting the minimum entry requirements to a cognate Master’s Degree programme.
