Why study Bachelor of Laws (LLB)?

This newly designed Bachelor of Law (LLB) offered at IIE MSA and recently added to our programme offering, is aligned to industry, with well-defined priorities to guarantee relevance while addressing the needs of society. There is a growing need for multi-dimensional graduates with the ability to participate in an increasingly complex and dynamic local and global economy. The qualification follows on a first undergraduate degree with sufficient law-related credits and its aim is to produce competent, skilled and dynamic legal graduates, equipped with a firm knowledge and understanding of the relevant legal principles.

There is a growing need for multi-dimensional graduates with the ability to participate in an increasingly complex and dynamic local and global economy.

This LLB Law qualification follows on a first undergraduate degree with sufficient law-related credits and its aim is to produce competent, skilled and dynamic legal graduates, equipped with a firm knowledge and understanding of the relevant legal principles. The qualification provides a critical understanding of theories, concepts, principles, ethics, perspectives, methodologies and procedures of the discipline of law. Graduates of this qualification will also hold in high regard their duty to contribute meaningfully to the development of the local and global society and economy.

Graduates of this LLB degree will attain a coherent understanding of, and ability to, critically analyse fundamental legal concepts, principles, theories and their relationship to values. They will furthermore attain the requisite methods, techniques and strategies pertaining to legal research and problem solving in both theoretical and practical scenarios.

Successful completion of this programme leads to an IIE qualification.

Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Minimum Admission Requirements

An appropriate HEQSF Level 7 Bachelor’s degree and completed all 7 relevant prerequisite Law subjects. Introduction to law, Constitutional law, Contract law, Criminal law, Bill of rights, Law of persons and Law of family

International Students

A SAQA Evaluation Certificate with NQF L7 equivalence in an appropriate field AND have completed all 7 relevant prerequisite Law subjects.

A student with an HEQSF Level 7 or equivalent qualification that does not have all 7 of the Law subjects listed above may be admitted, subject to the completion of additional modules. (Introduction to law, Constitutional law, Contract law, Criminal law, Bill of rights, Law of persons and Law of family)

What is Bachelor of Laws (LLB)?

The Bachelor of Law (LLB) offered at IIE MSA is a Law degree that provides students with a deeper understanding of the legal system and applying that understanding in practical scenarios. This degree will also provide learners with the ability to tackle diverse and complex legal problems.

Graduates of this qualification will also hold in high regard their duty to contribute meaningfully to the development of the local and global society and economy. The LLB should be completed after the BCom Law should you wish to qualify as an attorney or advocate.
